Asbestos

In 2002 Spain outlawed asbestos production and commercialization as well as installing asbestos and asbestos-containing materials due to the high cancer causing risk posed by this material. However, asbestos had been widely used as construction material and component of many materials, including constructions materials because of its good ignifugous properties and resistance (insulation, roofs, pavements, etc.).

It was a very popular construction material during the 70’s and is especially prevalent in fiber cement panels and pipes. It was this widespread use that made removing asbestos and asbestos-containing materials an especially legislated issue.

Volconsa is authorized to intervene in dismantling operations where asbestos exposure is a known risk. It is registered in this capacity with company number 2800067 in the R.E.R.A. roster.
